STUDENTS AND PARENTS ALIKE HAVE ASKED ABOUT COLONIAL DAY.... IT IS SNEAKING UP ON US!! HERE ARE SOME IDEAS:
In order to really transport ourselves to colonial times: Dress in costume All costumes can be made inexpensively from clothing you have at home. I have listed several suggestions below – do what works for you! Ask your family members before raiding their closets. Boys: • Black pants or sweat pants rolled to the knees • Pants cut/altered to the knees • Baseball, football pants • A man's shirt with the collar removed and the sleeves rolled up or adjusted for fullness • Shoes: Dark leather shoes, dark loafers (tennis shoes are a last resort) • Buckle on shoes made of cardboard and tin foil • Solid color knee high socks (soccer socks) • A vest (optional) • Tri-cornered hat (we will make these at school) Girls: • Dress or skirt to the ankle (plain, solid color or simple print) • Solid color nylon stockings/pantyhose/knee-high socks • Apron or shawl can be added to outfit • Mary Jane shoes or ballet flats • Buckle on shoes made of cardboard and tin foil • Peasant blouse with lace or solid color top • Mob cap will be made at school Bring a colonial lunch (no modern wrappings: plastic or foil) o Pack your lunch in a bandana, a basket, or a tea towel o No Lunchables, Gatorade, chips, etc o Colonial foods included – bread, muffins, jam, butter, chicken, pork, egg, cheese, corn, beans, squash, apples, pears, berries, tea, cider – need more ideas? Search the internet! Bring a gift for the teacher (jam, hard-boiled egg, bread, butter, tea, fruit) Bring wood for the fire (a stick will do) Have a lot of FUN! Arrive dressed in costume with your lunch, gift for teacher, and wood on Friday, November 13th. You will not have time to change in the bathrooms. DO NOT bring your backpack. There’s only a couple of days left to take advantage of online ticket sales, which end onTuesday, October 20th at 8pm.
If you prefer to purchase in person, PTA will be selling tickets in the courtyard on Monday, October 19th – Thursday, October 22nd at the following times:
Note: Adults are also welcome to enjoy the slides, provided they have a paid wristband. No shoes allowed on all rides / inflatables. Each year, shoes are misplaced or lost. We recommend bringing a bag to carry shoes around from one ride to the next, so shoes are not left behind.
Mark your calendars! Come dressed in your Halloween costume on Friday, October 23rd from 4pm – 8pm and enjoy slides, food, games and entertainment at Hedenkamp.
Save time and money — get your wristbands and tickets during presale:
20 tickets for $15 Tickets ($1 each purchased night of) $15 wristband: includes a complimentary $15 child ticket to Inflatable World for the 2016 season (Purchased night of is still $15, but no complimentary ticket)

Parent Edmodo Page When you create an account you will need to register as a "student." If you create an account choosing the "parent" option it will not allow you to join the parent group. I am not sure why this is set up this way, but please register as a "student." If you are still having problems, please contact me and I will look into it. Thank you! Mrs. Hurtado. The purpose of this wall is to update parents daily/weekly about what is going on in room 506. If there are any questions, please leave a comment below or email me at [email protected].
